2.1.1 End panels with shelves. When specified, removable end panels with shelves, suitable for mass display of merchandise, shall be furnished. These end panels shall generally conform to the height, width and depth configuration of the island base shelf. The end panel shall have three adjustable cantilever shelves, as well as a base shelf. The end panel shall be constructed of 3/16-inch to 1/4-inch hardboard for pegged merchandise.

2.2 Type III shelving. The bakery shelving base, uprights, brackets, and shelves shall be all steel frame type construction, knockdown type, easily erected without skilled help. Bakery shelving units shall be equipped with illuminated canopy, mirrors, reversible wire bakery shelves, steel base shelf, end caps, and base flanges. Back panels shall be constructed of minimum 3/16-inch perforated hardboard or 5/8–inch laminated particle board. The frame shall be equipped with 1-inch minimum adjustable leveling devices. Each bakery display shelving shall be 12 feet long, consisting of three 4-foot sections. Each 4-foot section shall be equipped with four reversible wire bakery shelves. Reversible wire shelves shall be chrome or brass-plated. The wire shelves shall be 21 to 24 inches deep, with a downward tilting capability toward the front of 12 to 17 degrees. Wire shelves shall have a 2-1/2 to 2-7/8-inch high lip in front of the shelving. Overall height of shelving shall be 88 to 90 inches.
2.2.1 End panel and canopy. The end panel and canopy shall be constructed of solid wood, particle board, sheet steel, or aluminum. The canopy shall be illuminated by fluorescent lights and shall have a fascia with end panels and a slanted mirror. Unless otherwise specified, lights shall be designed for operation on 120 volt, 60 hertz, 1-phase electric power supply.
2.2.2 Shelving base and kickplates. The shelving base shall be 6 to 10 inches from the floor and reinforced to withstand the shelving load requirements specified in 2.4. Kickplates shall be capable of being easily removed without the use of special tools.
