COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BIN, DISPLAY, PORTABLE
The General Service Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
1. Intended use. This commercial item description covers a heavy duty, portable display bin (see 5.1).
2. Salient characteristics.
2.1 Design and construction. The bin shall consist of back and sides, shelf, platform and four casters. The bin dimensions shall not be greater than 36 inches wide by 41 inches deep by 53 inches high. The bin shall provide for front loading and shall be capable of withstanding a load of 1000 pounds without visible signs of distortion or loss or rigidity. The bin shall be listed in the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) Standard No. 2. The bin shall be capable of disassembly for storage only when using screwdrivers and wrenches.
2.1.1 Back and sides. The back and sides shall be chrome plated, steel wire.
2.1.2 Shelf. The shelf bottom shall be zinc or chrome plated steel. Plating shall conform to the manufacturer’s standard practice and shall be in accordance with NSF Standard No. 2. Bottom platform shelf shall be zinc, chrome plated or enameled steel or wood which has been painted or varnished.
2.1.3 Casters. Each bin shall have removable 5 inch diameter casters 1-1/2 inches wide. The casters shall be the ball bearing swivel type.
2.2 Workmanship. All workmanship shall conform to food commercial practice.
3. Quality assurance. The contractor is responsible for assuring that the items furnished to the Government conform to all the requirements specified in referenced documents and herein. The contractor shall furnish a certificate of compliance certifying that the items being furnished comply with the stated requirements. The Government reserves the right to inspect the items to verify the certification and may reject any item or lot of items when it is determined that:
a. Any required component or design characteristic is missing or not as specified herein.
b. Any aspects of design, construction, assembly, function or finish is not in accordance with good commercial practice.
c. Packaging, packing, palletization and marking is not as specified.
